How Hybrid Cars Work

A hybrid car is a passenger vehicle that is driven by a hybrid engine, which is any engine that combines two or more sources of power, generally gasoline and electricity. There are two types of gasoline-electric hybrid cars; the parallel hybrid, and the series hybrid. Both use gasoline-electric hybrid technology, but in radically different ways.

In a parallel hybrid car, a gasoline engine and an electric motor work together to move the car forward, while in a series hybrid, the gasoline engine either directly powers an electric motor that powers the vehicle, or charges batteries that will power the motor. Both types of hybrids also use a process called regenerative braking to store the kinetic energy generated by brake use in the batteries, which will in turn power the electric motor.

How to Change a Tire

Having a flat tire and not knowing how to change it can make you feel helpless. Changing a tire is easy enough to do, and everyone should have a general idea of what's involved:Never change a tire on an incline or hill; always seek a flat surface, even if it means driving on a flat tire. Use bricks, wooden wedges, or metal wheel chocks to block the wheels at the opposite end of the car from the end that is to be raised.

Pry off the wheel cover.
You can use a screwdriver to pry the wheel cover off. Just insert the point of the tool where the edge of the cover meets the wheel, and apply a little leverage. The cap should pop off. You may have to do this in a couple of places, as if you were prying the lid off a can of paint.

Loosen the lug nuts.

You might know this as breaking the lug nuts. Whatever you call it, find the end of the wrench that fits the lug nuts on your vehicle, and fit it onto the first nut. Apply all your weight to the bar on the left. This starts turning the nut counterclockwise, which loosens it. Don't remove the lug nuts completely; just get them loose enough to remove by hand after you jack up the vehicle. A hollow pipe and a cross-shaft wrench can loosen the tightest lug nuts.

If you have alloy wheels that are held on by lug nuts with delicate finishes, the delicate aluminum or chrome-plated lug nuts need careful handling. They should never be loosened or replaced with power tools that can scratch the delicate finish.

How to Safely Jack Up Your Vehicle

The most obvious reason to jack up a car is to change a tire, but other jobs, such as inspecting brakes, may also require you to get under the vehicle. Before you jack up your vehicle, observe the following safety precautions:

Use the jack only to get a vehicle off the ground, never to hold a vehicle in place.
Use jack stands when you work underneath your vehicle. People have been crushed to death when vehicles that were improperly secured fell on them.
Never jack up a vehicle without blocking the wheels to keep it from rolling. Use bricks, wooden wedges, or metal wheel chocks to block the wheels at the end of the car that isn't being raised.
If you're changing a tire and you have nothing to block the wheels with, park near the curb with the wheels turned in. This may not keep you from getting hurt if the car rolls off the jack, but at least innocent motorists and pedestrians won’t have to deal with a runaway driverless vehicle!

Never change a tire on a freeway or highway. Call road service or an automobile association or hang a white rag or a white piece of paper out of the driver’s side window and wait for the highway patrol.

Places In India You Never Heard About!

These historical places in India have a story of their own and a visit to them can prove to be a life changing experience. The historical places and beautiful monuments spread across India are a delight for any traveler. Some monuments like the Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, Golconda fort, and the Golden Temple are intensely researched but there are others places with precious little information. These locations can enthrall you if only you knew how to find them. At Tripoto we have mapped seven historical Places In India.

How Car Engines Work

Have you ever opened the hood of your car and wondered what was going on in there? A car engine can look like a big confusing jumble of metal, tubes and wires to the uninitiated.

You might want to know what's going on simply out of curiosity. Or perhaps you are buying a new car, and you hear things like "3.0 liter V-6" and "dual overhead cams" and "tuned port fuel injection." What does all of that mean?
In this article, we'll discuss the basic idea behind an engine and then go into detail about how all the pieces fit together, what can go wrong and how to increase performance.
The purpose of a gasoline car engine is to convert gasoline into motion so that your car can move. Currently the easiest way to create motion from gasoline is to burn the gasoline inside an engine. Therefore, a car engine is an internal combustion engine -- combustion takes place internally.

How Four-Wheel Drive Works

Here are almost as many different types of four-wheel-drive systems as there are four-wheel-drive vehicles. It seems that every manufacturer has several different schemes for providing power to all of the wheels. The language used by the different carmakers can sometimes be a little confusing, so before we get started explaining how they work, let's clear up some terminology:
Four-wheel drive - Usually, when carmakers say that a car hasfour-wheel drive, they are referring to a part-time system. For reasons we'll explore later in this article, these systems are meant only for use in low-traction conditions, such as off-road or on snow or ice.
All-wheel drive - These systems are sometimes called full-time four-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive systems are designed to function on all types of surfaces, both on- and off-road, and most of them cannot be switched off.

Part-time and full-time four-wheel-drive systems can be evaluated using the same criteria. The best system will send exactly the right amount of torque to each wheel, which is the maximum torque that won't cause that tire to slip.

In this article, we'll explain the fundamentals of four-wheel drive, starting with some background on traction, and look at the components that make up a four-wheel-drive system. Then we'll take a look at a couple of different systems, including the one found on the Hummer, manufactured for GM by AM General.

We need to know a little about torque, traction and wheel slip before we can understand the different four-wheel-drive systems found on cars.

International Weather

Are you about to travel to another country? Are you planning for a picnic or a barbecue on your backyard? Or perhaps you just want to go on a long drive to visit some friends or relatives. If you will be doing these things, then you need to educate yourself about the weather so that you will be able to enjoy whatever activity you may have in mind. Of course you would not want to go to another country wearing your 3-layer clothing, when the weather to your destination is humid and sunny. And of course, you would not want ending up dripping wet with your barbecue set on the backyard when the weather forecast mentioned that it will rain.
An international weather table will become handy so that you will know the national weather, local weather, international weather, weather changes and international weather services.

Braking System

The braking system is designed to help the operator control the deceleration of the vehicle. While the suspension and steering systems control the ride and directional movements, the braking system is designed to slow or stop the vehicle. The braking system is crucial to the safe operation of the vehicle. This section identifies brake components and the principles that assist in slowing a vehicle.

The braking system is designed to decrease the speed of the vehicle. In order to slow the vehicle there needs to be friction between parts. Unlike the lubrication system, where minimizing friction is the goal, the braking system is designed to use friction for control. The amount of friction created needs to be controlled by the operator of the vehicle.

Jump-Starting Your Battery Using Another Car

Whether it's because you left the lights on, the keys in the ignition, or your battery is old, most car owners will be faced with a dead battery sooner or later. Fortunately, if there's another functional car nearby, or if you have a manual transmission, you can jump start the car and be on the move again soon.
Check the headlights. Are they dim or bright? (Note that in some cars you will need to turn the ignition on to test the headlights). If they are dim, it's likely your battery is the culprit. If your headlights are bright, you do not have a dead battery and a jump start will not help.

How to Clean Corroded Car Battery Terminals

Many drivers experience difficulty starting their vehicles at some point or another. Sometimes, a major part is to blame, but a lot of times this frustrating event is caused by buildup on the battery terminals. Learning how to clean corroded car battery terminals will avoid unnecessary expenses and worry.

vehicle drive train system

The drive train of a motor vehicle is the group of components that deliver power to the driving wheels. This excludes the engine or motor that generates the power. In contrast, the power train is considered to include both the engine or motor and the drive train.  The drive train transfers turning force from the engine crankshaft to the drive wheels. Drive train configurations vary, depending on vehicle design. The most common drive train configurations are front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

The Long-Neck Padaung

Around 50,000 Padaung people live in the thick forests west of the Salween River and around the Pekon Hills, in Kayah State and southern Shan State of eastern Myanmar.
History
Their traditional homeland is north-west of Loikaw town. Today they are concentrated in seven villages centred around their biggest village, Bangpe. Five hundred Padaung also live in Thailand, inhabiting three villages within Muang District of Mae Hong Son Province, very near the border with Myanmar. The Padaung first arrived in Thailand in 1988 when they fled fighting between Burmese troops and ethnic minorities in Kayah State.
In their own language the Padaung call themselves Kakaung, which means 'people who live on the hilltops'. The Padaung language is closely related to that of the Lahta tribe in Myanmar. It is part of the Karen branch of the Tibeto-Burman family.

Shan (Dai) peacock (kinnari and kinnara) dance

The peacock dance is one of the most wide-spread ancient dances of the Dai (shan) ethnic group in Myanmar and Yunnan Province on the southwest border of China . Tropical weather and nature have nourished the Dai people's tradition and culture. They share their land with creatures of great variety. The beauty and kindness of the peacock inspires the Dai culture to a great extent and the Dai consider the peacock as a Goddess that can bring them peace and happiness. They pray for peace and happiness with graceful peacock dancing.
The peacock dance is the best-loved dance of the Dai. To the Dai the peacock is a symbol of good luck, happiness, beauty and honesty, so to perform this dance is to present a eulogy of and express good wishes for a happy life. It is mostly performed on the New Year (Pi Mai Dai) of the Dai calendar, at the Gate Closing Festival, the Gate Opening Festival and some important religious events.

Dealing with Cultural Differences

       Dealing with Cultural Differences

How then do you deal with different customs in the business setting? Well, first of all you need to do your very own research on personal and business etiquette in the country you will be travelling to. You can use the Internet or buy a book, whichever you feel is most convenient. Before leaving for your business trip, make sure that you leave your attitude in your home country. Remember that even if you are superior at home, interacting with foreign cultures should always be on a humbled point of view for best results. It is also very important that you try to blend into the culture. Do not resist their food just because you do not like sushi, hold your negative feedback, and try to reach out to them the best that you can.
Do not be surprised about how people conduct business in other countries. Germans, for example, discuss businesses strictly inside the meeting room, and never during meals. Japanese people exchange business cards, a process which seems almost ceremonial; the more you read the card, the more respectful you are. While you can never drink alcohol during negotiations in Australia, social drinking is encouraged in Russia.

International Culture: Respect is the Key to Successful International Business.

If your kind of job involves dealing with international business negotiations, then the concept of respect for international culture should be the first thing you must keep in mind. Dealing with people from different countries can be a little difficult. Most often, what you have in common is too few when compared to your differences. The culture, standards, code of ethics, and traditions are altogether different. However, despite all these differences, ethics related to doing business and negotiations must persist.
What is international business culture all about?

Water festival

The Water Festival is the New Year's  celebrations that take place in Southeast  Asian countries such as Burma,Cambodia,  Laos,a and Thailand as well as Yunan, China.  It is called the 'Water Festival' by Westerners  because people splash / pour water at one  another as part of the cleansing ritual to  welcome the new year. Traditionally people  gently sprinkled water on one another as a  sign of respect, but as the new year falls  during the hottest month in South East Asia, many people end up dousing strangers and passersby in vehicles in boisterous celebration. The act of pouring water is also a show of blessings and good wishes. It is believed that on this Water Festival, everything old must be thrown away, or it will bring the owner bad luck.
